Back in 1989, entrepreneurs assisting the local Historical Society with this event came up with a way to improve upon the cumbersome, messy, sand-filled luminaries being used. Their bright idea turned into the LumaBase. It quickly became clear how much more convenient these new luminarias were, and JHSpecialties, Inc. was formed. Enthusiasm for the LumaBase spread quickly through their small town, and expansion was the obvious next step. Working very hard to show their idea, they gained exposure on shopping networks and major retail stores.
